The educator, informatics, leadership, and clinical nurse leader tracks do not require a prescriber. They require an experienced mentor already working in that role, and they carry far fewer hours, commonly around 100 to 200 depending on the program.
An educator practicum sits in a school of nursing or a hospital education department, an informatics practicum with a clinical-systems or analytics team, a leadership practicum alongside a nurse executive, and a clinical nurse leader practicum in care coordination and unit leadership. South Carolina is a restricted practice state under the AANP State Practice Environment. Nurse practitioners are licensed by the South Carolina Board of Nursing, which sits within the state Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, and NP practice requires a practice agreement with a physician who is readily available for consultation.
State rules also expect the collaborating physician to be reachable within the state and limit how many advanced practice nurses one physician may work with, so these agreements are a real planning factor. For your practicum it means the NP preceptor supervising your hours practices within that agreement, and your program will want the arrangement documented. Line the site up early, and confirm current requirements with the board.
The non-NP tracks fall outside all of this, because an educator, informatics, or leadership mentor is not prescribing during your hours.
